Hope Disability Centre Observes International Women’s Day
Ganderbal, March 8 (2016): Hope Disability Centre and its partner Handicap International observed International Women’s Day on at its Head office in Wayil, Ganderbal distrcit of Jammu and Kashmir.
Themed at “Pledge for Parity”, the aim of the event was to emphasize the inclusion of women with disabilities in the society, to eliminate social discrimination the women with disabilities face in their life, to create awareness among them about their rights and entitlements and to facilitate the bridge between them and the society.
Large number of women including those with disabilities participated in this event. The women shared their issues and experience in the society.

Speaking on the occasion, the project beneficiaries, Ms. Ruksana, Ms. Rifat and Ms. Parveena shared their experience with the participants and audience about the challenges they have faced being women with disabilities. And how they have turned these challenges into positive opportunities and overcame them.
These women said they are running their businesses independently and not only supporting themselves but their families as well.
Thanking Handicap International and its implementing partners Hope Disability Centre and Help Foundation for providing timely services and support, the women said that because of these support groups they have been able to show to the people in the society that they too can live and earn like other people do.
